Didier Deschamps justifies his tactical decisions before the France–Morocco quarter-final.

In a pre-match press conference, Deschamps defended his handling of high-pressure situations and his in-game decision-making, asserting that he remains composed on the sidelines.

“I don’t let myself get swept away on the touchline,” he explained.

“My role is to focus on my job, not to overreact.”

The France manager, leading the national team since 2012, acknowledged that some tactical choices can be challenging and controversial, but emphasized their necessity in maintaining the team’s performance and discipline in tense matches.

France advanced to the quarter-finals after a narrow 1–0 victory over Paraguay, a match characterized by physicality and disputed refereeing decisions.

Kylian Mbappé secured the win with a penalty goal in the second half.

As he looked forward to the match against Morocco on July 9, Deschamps highlighted the need for composure during high-stakes games, noting that players can become emotionally heightened in crucial moments.

He also reflected on previous decisions, including substitutions made during significant tournaments, admitting that even experienced players can face disciplinary challenges in the closing stages of matches.
