The Tangier-Assilah delegation will begin replacing the licenses of all taxi drivers with a unified electronic trust license at the national level, starting from February 16.
The currently used biometric trust license will be considered null and void as of July 1, 2026.
The operation, which is expected to continue until May 15, 2026, has called on all first and second-line drivers to participate in this process and submit their files to replace their old (biometric) licenses at the offices of the local authorities and the districts affiliated with their residence.
Conditions
Moreover, to accept requests for replacing previously issued trust licenses with the new trust license cards, it is required that the applicant holds a previously issued trust license and has been actively engaged in driving a taxi regularly during the year preceding the date of application submission.
It is also required to possess physical and mental fitness, good behavior and conduct, and other conditions stipulated by the legal and regulatory provisions and the applicable supervisory decisions for obtaining a trust license and for practicing the activity of driving taxis.
Required Documents
To obtain the license, a set of documents must be submitted, including a request for the replacement of the trust license (the application form is obtained from the local authority, the district, or the taxi registration office under the National Security services).
A copy of the national identity card, a copy of the driving license, a passport-sized photo with a white background (dimensions 45 × 35), a medical certificate issued by the regional health authorities, a copy of the criminal record (Certificate No. 3 that is valid for 3 months and states “nothing”), and a copy of the biometric trust license to be replaced.
Correspondence with the Minister of Interior
It should be noted that the delegation’s decision came after correspondence from the Minister of Interior aimed at regulating and updating the data related to active taxi drivers and replacing the previously issued trust licenses.
This step, according to the minister, aims to qualify and improve the management of the taxi sector and unify the digitization of the relevant administrative procedures, particularly regarding the granting and management of the necessary licenses for driving and providing taxi services.
Therefore, it was decided to launch a national operation aimed at regulating and updating the data specific to taxi drivers actively operating in various delegations and provinces, and replacing the previously issued trust licenses with new ones, according to a unified national model in the form of a smart and secure multi-functional card valid for five (5) years.
