The Moroccan national team will face its Tanzanian counterpart in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations (Morocco 2025) on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat.
The Moroccan team, as the leader of Group A, will confront Tanzania, which finished third in Group C with a total of two points, earned from two draws against Uganda and Tunisia, without achieving any victory. Meanwhile, the Nigerian team topped the group with a perfect score (9 points), ahead of the “Carthage Eagles,” who finished the group stage in second place with four points.
The Moroccan team had topped its group with 7 points, which it obtained from two victories against Comoros (2-0) and Zambia (3-0), and a draw with the Malian team (1-1).
The Moroccan national team has previously faced Tanzania on several occasions, the latest being the match between the two sides last March at the Honorary Stadium in Oujda, as part of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. This match ended with a victory for the “Atlas Lions” by two goals to none, scored by Nayef Aguerd and Brahim Diaz.
