🔥Launching the Live Broadcasting Feature on Phones in Emergency Situations

“Google” announced the launch of a live video streaming feature for emergencies via phones running the “Android” operating system. This new feature allows callers to emergency services to share a live stream from their phone’s camera, aiming to enhance the response efficiency in situations where it is difficult to accurately describe what is happening.

“Google” clarified, in a statement, that the feature comes to support emergency service workers in assessing incidents that are challenging to describe accurately, particularly in traffic accidents, medical crises, and rapid disasters like wildfires. It emphasized that being able to see directly what is happening could make a difference in the speed of intervention and the quality of assistance.

The new feature relies on the security infrastructure supporting Google’s current services, such as the emergency location service, the car accident detection feature, the fall detection, and the satellite emergency service.

The same statement added that an emergency service provider can request activation of the broadcast during the phone call, prompting the user with a notification that allows starting the video share with one click. The broadcast is encrypted by default, and the user retains the ability to stop it at any time, ensuring privacy and security.
