On the morning of Tuesday, November 11, discussions began at the headquarters of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, focusing on the new generation of territorial development, following instructions from King Mohammed VI.
Wali Younes El Tazi addressed elected officials, responsibilities, and civil society representatives, stating that everyone’s credibility is at stake. He emphasized the need to work on realistic, innovative, and achievable projects, steering clear of mere appeasement. He confirmed that new projects would undergo specific monitoring, accountability, and governance.
El Tazi highlighted the challenges faced by the city of Tangier, particularly in light of increased internal migration and its repercussions. He noted the growing weight and pressure on the “engine of the region” and called for efforts within rural areas to persuade residents to remain.
Regarding recent works in the city, the Wali pointed out that the imbalance in development previously mentioned among the province’s cities also applies to Tangier, reflecting disparities among its neighborhoods. He noted that recent projects aimed to reach some neighborhoods and their surroundings.
