Yamal’s Call-Up to the Spanish National Team Canceled Due to ‘Injury’

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced the exclusion of player Lamine Yamal from the national team’s gathering ahead of their matches against Turkey and Georgia, following a medical procedure he underwent without their knowledge to treat groin pain he has been experiencing for some time.

In a stern statement released on Tuesday, the medical team of the Spanish national team expressed their astonishment and deep displeasure upon learning, at 13:47 on Monday, November 10— the day the official national team focus began— that the young player Lamine Yamal had undergone a medical procedure using radiofrequency technique to treat groin pain that very morning.

According to the statement, this procedure took place without prior notification to the national medical staff, with details of the condition only received through a report at 22:40 the previous night, recommending rest for a period of 7 to 10 days.

Given these unexpected circumstances and with the primary focus on the health, safety, and well-being of the young player, who is considered one of the most promising talents in the Spanish national team, the RFEF decided to exempt Yamal from participation in the current national call-up.

This decision comes in the context of avoiding any additional risks that could hinder the player’s development or impact his sporting career.

Lamine Yamal, 18 years old and a player for FC Barcelona, is regarded as one of the key names in the new generation of Spanish football, having significantly contributed to the team’s recent successes. However, recurring injuries in the groin area have raised concerns about his ability to maintain peak physical condition, making this incident particularly relevant in the coordination between clubs and national teams.
