Establishing a New Organizational Structure to Enhance Security Preparedness in Morocco

The General Directorate of National Security has upgraded the organizational structure of the National Police services at Rabat-Salé Airport from a special commission to a security zone. This change includes bolstering human and logistical resources, as well as the establishment of operational teams and specialized units. This move aims to enhance security in light of the significant expansion occurring at this air border crossing.

Additionally, the Directorate has decided to create second teams for combating gangs in the security departments of Marrakech and Fes. This initiative will strengthen the existing regular units and increase the readiness of the agencies responsible for fighting crime.

This new organizational structure is part of the National Police’s strategic framework aimed at aligning security operations with the economic and service developments in the air transportation sector, as well as addressing demographic growth and urban expansion. It also seeks to enhance security coverage to prevent and deter crime, while bolstering public safety and improving the quality of security services offered to citizens.

### New Appointments Related to the New Organizational Structure

In line with this new structure, the General Directorate of National Security has released a new list of appointments to key positions that correspond with the revised organizational framework at Rabat-Salé Airport. This list includes the promotion of the former head of the special commission to the position of head of a security zone, along with the appointment of four heads for various services at this border crossing.

Furthermore, on Saturday, November 8, the Directorate also announced another list of appointments for key positions within the decentralized National Security services in the cities of Marrakech, Fes, Safi, Beni Mellal, and Casablanca.

The new appointments, signed by the Director General of National Security, Abdelatif Hammouchi, include eight additional positions in the police services. Notable appointments include the heads of the two newly formed anti-gang units in Marrakech and Fes, as well as a deputy head for the security zone in Beni Mellal and a head for the social police service in Settat.

This list also includes the appointment of a head for the special commission at the port of Safi and a head for the traffic division at the port of Casablanca. Additionally, two security officials have been assigned to lead two police districts in the Casablanca security area.

According to a statement, these new appointments are part of an ongoing initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of police human resources. This will be achieved by rotating responsibilities and assigning operational management roles in police facilities to highly trained and qualified security personnel capable of implementing work plans designed to improve citizen safety and protect property.
