The Criminal Court in Tangier has sentenced an individual to 10 years in prison for involvement in kidnapping, confinement, torture, and extortion related to an online account known as “The Wonderful Girl,” which targets individuals seeking sexual encounters.
The account operates on social media platforms, luring men in search of “sexual pleasure.” It is managed by a group that functions similarly to a gang using fake images and names of a girl to communicate with men. After sexual conversations, they persuade victims to meet, executing a scheme based on theft and ransom, which many agree to “fearing exposure.”
One victim, identified as “R.A.” from the city of Ksar Al Kebir, agreed to meet “The Wonderful Girl” and was subsequently lured to a remote area in Ksar Al Sgid. There, he was held captive, assaulted, and had his bank account information seized after his documents were taken.
Following his release, the victim filed a complaint, leading to the arrest of an individual found in possession of “the victim’s driving license.”
The arrested man, named “Anwar,” stated he was with his cousin on a motorcycle when apprehended, claiming his relative, believed to be part of the gang, fled to an undisclosed location. Anwar denied any association with the gang, asserting he did not participate in any kidnapping and did not know anything about “The Wonderful Girl,” emphasizing that his only mistake was meeting with his cousin.
The court acquitted Anwar of forming a gang but convicted him on charges of “theft at night, repeated offenses, violence, threats, use of a motor vehicle, kidnapping, and physical torture of the hostage with ransom demands.” He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
