The Disciplinary Committee of the African Football Confederation decided to fine the Royal Moroccan Football Federation 200,000 dollars, due to what it described as the inappropriate behavior of ball collectors on the field during the Africa Cup final.
The ball collectors got into a dispute with the Senegalese national team’s goalkeeper over a “towel,” which turned the incident into a global topic of conversation.
The towel penalties also affected players Achraf Hakimi and Ismaël Chebbak.
Thus, it was decided to suspend Achraf Hakimi for two (2) official matches under CAF jurisdiction, including one (1) match with a one-year suspension starting from the date of the decision, due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
Ismaël Chebbak was also suspended for three (3) official matches under CAF jurisdiction, due to unsportsmanlike conduct. A financial penalty of 100,000 US dollars was imposed on him.
