The Bank of Morocco announced the issuance of a commemorative silver coin valued at 250 dirhams to mark the 50th anniversary of the Green March.
The coin’s obverse features an image of King Mohammed VI, along with the inscriptions “محمد السادس” and “المملكة المغربية” in Arabic. It also includes the Tifinagh script “ⵜⴰⴳⵍⴷⵉⵜ ⵏ ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ,” and the year of issuance: “1447 – 2025.”
The reverse side showcases an ornate depiction of the map of Morocco centered on a representation of the globe. It features the national emblem and the number “50” in prominent writing, commemorating the anniversary, along with the nominal value in figures “250” and in Arabic letters “مائتان وخمسون درهما.”
The reverse also includes the phrase “الذكرى الخمسون للمسيرة الخضراء” at the top, with its French translation “50ème ANNIVERSAIRE DE LA MARCHE VERTE” at the bottom.
This coin is composed of a mixture of 925 parts per thousand silver and 75 parts per thousand copper. It weighs 28.28 grams and has a diameter of 38.61 millimeters, featuring a milled edge and experimental minting style.
