Real Oviedo Signs Moroccan International Elias Chaira Until 2028
Real Oviedo announced on Friday the permanent signing of Moroccan international Elias Chaira from Girona, with a contract running until June 30, 2028.
In an official statement, the club based in Asturias confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Girona for Chaira’s transfer, allowing him to remain with the team for an additional three seasons following a successful loan spell during the 2024-2025 season.
Chaira, 24, made a significant impact at Oviedo, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 34 appearances, contributing notably to the team’s historic promotion to La Liga. Despite facing challenges towards the end of the season due to muscular injuries and a shoulder dislocation, he played a crucial role in the playoff matches against Mirandés, scoring the equalizer in the return leg held at Carlos Tartiere Stadium.
Chaira began his football development at Girona and participated in the club’s summer training last season. However, he did not have the opportunity to play in La Liga, making the upcoming 2025-2026 season his first experience in the top division with Real Oviedo.
