Dismissal of Senegal’s Coach Pape Thiaw and Entire Staff

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced in an official statement today, Sunday, the dismissal of coach Pape Thiaw and his entire coaching staff, following a meeting of the executive committee that took place on Saturday, July 11.

The decision came after the painful elimination of the Senegalese national team from the Round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup, especially after losing to Belgium with a score of 3-2, having been ahead by two goals until the 85th minute.

The executive committee tasked the president of the federation, Abdoulaye Fall, with officially notifying the coach in accordance with the legal and contractual procedures in place. The federation also decided to implement a comprehensive restructuring of all national teams.

President Abdoulaye Fall is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday, July 13, at 16:00 at Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium to explain the reasons for the decision and discuss the status of the national team and future prospects.

This decision comes amid sharp criticisms from Senegalese fans who are calling for more radical changes within the federation, demanding the departure of Fall and others and rebuilding the federation from scratch.
