The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has urged citizens to exercise greater caution and vigilance, and to adhere to health guidelines capable of preventing complications related to high temperatures, following the heatwave affecting several areas of the kingdom.
The ministry emphasized, in a statement today, Thursday, the importance of “adhering to health guidelines capable of preventing complications related to high temperatures, especially among children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses, as well as those working or engaging in physical activities in open areas or under sunlight.”
It also recommended drinking sufficient water regularly, avoiding going out during intense heat, especially between noon and four in the afternoon, staying as much as possible in cool or ventilated places, wearing light clothing, and avoiding unnecessary physical exertion.
The ministry called on families and those surrounding elderly or ill individuals to continuously check on their well-being, assist them in drinking water, and follow the aforementioned guidelines.
It confirmed that in the case of symptoms such as elevated temperature, severe fatigue, dizziness, headache, excessive thirst, cramps, confusion, unusual drowsiness, or decreased consciousness, one should immediately go to the nearest health facility to receive the necessary treatment.
The ministry highlighted that within the framework of field support for this situation, the national health system for heatwaves has been activated, similar to previous years, starting from June, by enhancing vigilance and health monitoring at the local level, ensuring the continuity of health services, strengthening emergency services, and mobilizing emergency medical assistance, while securing an adequate stock of medicines and intensifying awareness and educational campaigns for citizens.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection renewed its call for adherence to guidelines and preventive measures, and for fostering a spirit of solidarity, especially towards vulnerable groups, contributing to reducing health risks and ensuring everyone’s safety during periods of high temperatures.
