The elements of the National Judicial Police Brigade were able, based on precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, on Thursday and Friday, June 25 and 26, to arrest six Algerian citizens suspected of being linked to a criminal network involved in forgery and its use, as well as their involvement in identity theft, illegal residency, and drug trafficking.
The National Security services had previously arrested an Algerian citizen wanted internationally under a Red Notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organization “Interpol” at the request of the Algerian judicial authorities, for suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking as part of a criminal gang, before it was found he was in possession of forged residency documents.
The investigations and inquiries conducted in this case resulted in the arrest of five other Algerian citizens suspected of being involved in this criminal activity, where initial data from the investigation indicates that they engaged in the forgery of residency documents as well as criminal record certificates issued by the judicial authorities in their country, in addition to the falsification of documents issued by fictitious companies. This was done for the purpose of using them fraudulently to obtain residency cards in Morocco to evade international judicial proceedings.
Search operations carried out in this case led to the seizure of foreign passports, ten forged seals, and a collection of counterfeit documents, in addition to a laptop and a group of mobile phones suspected of containing digital traces of this criminal activity.
The search operation also resulted in the seizure of two light vehicles suspected of being used to facilitate the commission of these criminal acts, as well as a checkbook and significant amounts from the proceeds of this criminal activity.
The suspects have been kept under police custody, pending the judicial investigation which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to reveal the circumstances and details of this case. Meanwhile, investigations and inquiries continue in order to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in this criminal activity.
