The Council of Abdelmalek Essaadi University approved, in its ordinary meeting held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in the city of Al-Hoceima under the presidency of the university president, the proposal to establish a Faculty of Economics and Management at the Ain Qamra University Campus in Al-Hoceima.
This decision comes as part of implementing national orientations aimed at diversifying higher education offerings, reinforcing the principles of spatial justice and equal opportunities in access to higher education, and aligning training with the needs of economic and social development in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
The council clarified that the establishment of this new faculty is part of the continuation of structural reforms in the higher education system, especially after the approval of the government council on proposals to establish new university institutions and the division and change of some other institutions, which the university council had previously approved in its meeting held on July 28, 2025.
This step is expected to enhance integrated regional development and expand access to higher education training across various regions of the area.
The council members confirmed that the new faculty will represent a qualitative added value to the academic offerings of the university, by training qualified competencies in the fields of economics and management, meeting the requirements of the job market, and keeping pace with the economic and developmental transformations taking place in the kingdom.
It will also enhance the university’s openness to its economic and social environment and reinforce its role as a key partner in serving regional development.
Through this initiative, Abdelmalek Essaadi University renews its active commitment to the major developmental projects taking place in the kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
It also affirmed its commitment to accompany the developmental dynamics observed in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region and to strengthen its position as a knowledge-producing institution and a driver of sustainable development.
The council approved all the points included in its agenda during this meeting. At the conclusion of the proceedings, council members praised the efforts made by various components of the university and its partners to enhance the quality of training, scientific research, and university services, in line with the strategic objectives of the university and the aspirations of regional and national development.
