The regional command of civil protection will honor, on Monday in the ancient city of Fez, specifically in the Ziyat neighborhood, starting from three o’clock in the afternoon, a simulation exercise for rescue and relief following a building collapse.
This exercise is conducted in cooperation with local authorities, the Agency for the Development and Rehabilitation of the City of Fez (ADER), as well as health services, including the university hospital center and the regional health department, as part of the efforts made to enhance intervention capabilities in complex urban environments.
The main aim of the exercise is to improve the efficiency and speed of interventions in areas characterized by narrow alleys and difficulty of access, which is a distinctive feature of the urban fabric of the ancient city.
It also aims to test rescue and debris removal protocols in cases of collapses or major disasters, and to enhance coordination among various participants from civil protection, local authorities, and health and security services.
The adopted scenario is based on a complex intervention that requires the mobilization of specialized equipment, alongside trained dog units, indicating a move towards raising the level of operational readiness to confront risks in historical centers.
Through this initiative, the organizers aim to enhance the readiness of teams and strengthen coordination mechanisms among services to ensure a swift and effective response to emergency situations in the ancient urban environment.
