Jewish Organization Publicly Commends Morocco’s Services

The European Jewish Organization (EuroJewCong) welcomed the initiative launched by the Kingdom of Morocco to transform the site of Dar Moulay al-Hashim in Demnat into a center dedicated to Jewish culture.

The organization deemed this step a “historic initiative that reflects Morocco’s ongoing commitment to preserving its cultural diversity and multiple identity.”

In a statement posted on its official accounts on Monday, November 3, the organization praised the vision led by King Mohammed VI in safeguarding Moroccan Jewish memory. It affirmed that the new project is part of a comprehensive policy aimed at restoring Jewish schools, synagogues, and cemeteries across various regions of Morocco.

The organization added that this cultural center, to be located near the recently renovated Jewish cemetery in Demnat, “will contribute to enhancing dialogue and cultural exchange, highlighting the historical depth of relations between Jews and Muslims in Morocco over the centuries.”

It emphasized that the Moroccan approach “provides a unique model in the Arab world for protecting Jewish heritage within the encompassing national identity.” The organization also appreciated the support of royal advisor André Azoulay and the royal commission for restoring Jewish cemeteries in implementing this vision.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication had previously announced the project as part of a wide national program to protect Moroccan Jewish heritage, in line with royal care for the historical memory of the Kingdom and all of its components.
