Paris Saint-Germain announced in a medical report that Moroccan international and team full-back Achraf Hakimi will be sidelined for “several weeks” due to a severe ankle sprain sustained during Tuesday’s match against Bayern Munich (2-1).
Hakimi faced a rough challenge from Colombian player Luis Díaz during the encounter, which was part of the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League.
The Moroccan right-back is among the frontrunners for the African Player of the Year award for 2025, according to the list of nominees released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which honors the best players, coaches, clubs, and national teams on the continent.
Hakimi, who was trained at Real Madrid, has had an exceptional season with Paris Saint-Germain, securing both the French league title and the UEFA Champions League title.
