In implementation of the royal high instructions, the government is launching a support and assistance program for those affected by the floods in the north and west of the kingdom, due to the heavy and exceptional rainfall that the kingdom has experienced over the past two months.
A statement from the Prime Ministry mentioned today, Friday, that in accordance with the royal high directives, the government has mobilized its various concerned sectors to ensure the proper implementation of this program, which was developed based on an accurate diagnosis of the field situation and the needs of the affected citizens. It has been decided to provide direct financial assistance to the affected individuals of up to 6,000 dirhams per family, and to provide financial support of 15,000 dirhams for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and small commercial establishments, and 140,000 dirhams for the reconstruction of homes that collapsed due to the floods.
The statement added that regarding the urgent financial assistance directed to each affected family, which will be disbursed starting next week, the head of the affected household must send a short text message to the number 1212, containing his national identification card number and date of birth, in order to enable the relevant authorities to verify the family’s situation, study the request for assistance, and decide on it as soon as possible.
As for the support allocated for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and small shops, as well as the reconstruction of collapsed homes, specialized local committees will carry out accurate field assessments of the affected establishments in the designated disaster areas, while opening the door, when necessary, for stakeholders to submit their requests to the specialized committees for examination and decision according to the adopted regulations, ensuring transparency and fairness in handling requests.
In the agricultural sector, support for farmers affected by this situation will be provided through the launch of a spring crops program, tailored to the characteristics of the affected areas, such as oilseed crops, legumes, and forage crops, by supporting the purchase of seeds and fertilizers to accelerate the recovery of the agricultural season, while continuing to support the affected livestock breeders.
The statement concluded that this program comes in harmony with the royal high concern, aimed at the framing and optimal management of the process of evacuating and relocating the affected citizens, according to a proactive approach that considers the degrees of potential risk, and mobilizes various logistical means to ensure the transportation of affected individuals under the best conditions, with the aim of their return to their homes as soon as possible.
