Motorcycle Rider Dies Just Two Kilometers from Finish Line in Morocco Rally

Portuguese motorbike rider Jorge Brandão died in the Morocco Rally on Friday, October 17, following an accident during the fifth and final stage of the rally, which spanned 216 kilometers round-trip from the city of Erfoud.

The organizing committee reported that Brandão, competing for the second time in the Morocco Rally as a representative of the “Old Friends Rally” team, suffered a severe fall in the sand dunes at kilometer 214, just two kilometers from the finish line.

The injured rider was transported to Erfoud hospital, but rescue efforts were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
