Anne Hathaway portrays Queen Penelope, the devoted wife of Odysseus and mother to Telemachus. After years of waiting for Odysseus to return to Ithaca, she staunchly resists remarrying despite overwhelming pressure from her suitors.
This film marks Hathaway’s third collaboration with director Christopher Nolan, following her roles in The Dark Knight Rises (2012) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Interstellar (2014), where she starred alongside Matthew McConaughey. In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hathaway humorously expressed her concerns during filming, joking, “I hope I didn’t, like, say anything while we were in space.”
The Oscar-winning actress, who took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Les Misérables, is also well-known for her performances in The Princess Diaries series, Ella Enchanted, Brokeback Mountain, and The Devil Wears Prada, among others. Later this year, she will feature in Verity, based on the novel by Colleen Hoover, and The End of Oak Street, alongside Ewan McGregor.
