Trash Invades Tangier.. Meeting at the Municipality to Stop Focusing on Black Spots and Attention to Facebook Posts

In recent days, complaints from citizens in various neighborhoods of Tangier have increased regarding the decline in cleanliness, and the spread of waste in various streets has been noted.

The cleaning companies had focused their attention on cleaning the streets believed to be traversed by King Mohammed VI, which caused a concentration of labor in these areas and a decline in cleaning efforts in the other neighborhoods of the city.

This situation, along with the increasing number of newcomers to the city, has led to a state of imbalance and an inability to keep up with the situation, resulting in a noticeable spread of waste.

Urgent Meeting

In light of this situation, a meeting was held in the municipality of Tangier on Friday, July 10, chaired by Munir Al-Limoui, during which it was agreed on the need to move beyond interventions limited to addressing black spots toward a regular and comprehensive management that prevents waste accumulation or delays in its removal, with an emphasis on field monitoring mechanisms to ensure that contracted companies adhere to the requirements of the service specifications.

It was decided to give special attention to major routes, city entrances, tourist areas, and neighborhoods with high population density, with the obligatory guarantee of service continuity in a manner that covers all urban areas without discrimination.

The meeting called for immediate interaction with citizens’ complaints and what is being monitored from irregularities through social media platforms, activating strict monitoring mechanisms, and not being lenient with proven cases of neglect, holding accountability to contractual obligations.
