On Thursday, Britney Spears was seen standing through the moonroof of a vehicle while navigating Los Angeles traffic, just months after her DUI arrest.
New images reveal the pop icon, known for “Oops!…I Did It Again,” standing tall in a black Mercedes SUV on the 101 Freeway near Studio City.
The Grammy winner was on her way from her home in Thousand Oaks.
During the spectacle, Spears threw her head back and raised her arms across the roof of the car while traffic was flowing at about 45 mph.
Dressed in a mini sundress, she also tossed her hair playfully amidst the midday traffic.
Eyewitnesses informed the Daily Mail that the 44-year-old singer was above traffic for about two minutes before exiting the freeway in the Mercedes.
After pulling into a gas station, Spears was seen chatting and laughing with the male driver, who sported a white cowboy hat, before entering the convenience store.
A source told the Daily Mail, “Britney just went through the sunroof for a quick moment, wanting to see what the traffic was like ahead as the cars had come to a stop.”
They noted that she was curious about the delay they might face.
“She loved doing this as a kid in the South; she enjoys feeling the warm breeze in her hair during the summer—it’s all in good fun,” the source explained.
“She’s having a great summer and feels happy and in a good place. If it’s against the law to stick her head out of a sunroof, she wasn’t aware—it was never her intention to break any rules.”
This bold move comes a few months after Spears faced a DUI arrest in March in Ventura County, California.
Footage from that incident showed her failing a sobriety test before being handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle on March 4.
Following her April incident, a source revealed to Page Six that the “Crossroads” actress was “doing really well” after spending less than a month in rehab.
“She’s feeling healthy, happy, and is eager to start fresh. Rehab provided her with a great opportunity to regain her footing,” the source shared at the time.
Another insider noted she would be “continuing counseling remotely.”
Ultimately, the singer pleaded guilty to a lesser “wet reckless” charge in May, avoiding jail time.
