World Cup 2026: England vs. Mexico Match May Be Shifted Due to Storm Warning

England’s World Cup round-of-16 match against Mexico has been rescheduled to 19:00 BST on Sunday.

FIFA is moving the match at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, which was initially set to start at 01:00 BST on Monday (18:00 local time on Sunday).

Weather forecasts indicate potential thunderstorms and heavy rainfall around that time, although FIFA has not yet commented on the reasons for this change.

According to tournament safety regulations, if lightning is detected within eight miles of the stadium, play will be automatically delayed for 30 minutes.

Previously, France’s group-stage match against Iraq was postponed for over two hours due to safety concerns related to severe weather in Philadelphia.
