The German company “Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme” announced the signing of a contract with Morocco to supply seven highly mobile field hospitals, in a deal that was signed last June, with delivery scheduled between the years 2027 and 2028.
The company clarified in an official statement that one field hospital will be allocated for the benefit of the Ministry of National Defense, while the Ministry of Interior will receive six field hospitals, with a local company specialized in medical equipment responsible for the delivery and equipping of these systems within Morocco.
The company did not disclose the exact value of the contract, merely indicating that it falls within transactions valued at “tens of millions of euros.”
The German company confirmed that the new hospitals are characterized by their high mobility and rapid deployment, as they are transported entirely on trucks, with the possibility of expanding them using military tents to provide greater capacity when needed.
These hospitals include integrated surgical units comprising modern operating rooms, intensive care units, sterilization sections, in addition to a laboratory, pharmacy, radiology station, and a computerized tomography (CT) machine, as well as specialties in ophthalmology, dentistry, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) medicine.
The company explained that these facilities are designed to operate independently whether in urban or field areas, thanks to their equipped systems for electricity generation and the provision of water and oxygen, allowing them to continue providing medical services even if fixed hospitals are unable to operate.
Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme’s CEO, Armin Krein, stated that these systems “not only contribute to saving lives during conflicts but also play an important role in ensuring the continuity of healthcare when local hospitals are unable to operate,” adding that the project was developed in collaboration with the Moroccan client to meet the needs of the Royal Military Health Service.
As of now, the Moroccan authorities have not issued any official statement clarifying the motivations behind the deal or the nature of the planned uses.
