The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced on Saturday, June 27, the appointment of Brazilian referee Wilton Sampaio to officiate the match between Morocco and the Netherlands in the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. The match is scheduled for June 30 at the Monterrey stadium in Mexico.
Sampaio will be assisted in managing the match by his compatriots Bruno Peres as first assistant referee, and Bruno Boscagli as second assistant referee. Meanwhile, the task of fourth official has been assigned to Chilean Cristian Garay, and the fifth official to his compatriot José Rittamal.
Sampaio is considered one of the leading referees on the international scene, having previously officiated numerous major matches in continental and global tournaments, and he possesses extensive experience in international competitions.
The match between Morocco and the Netherlands is part of the knockout stage, where both teams aim to secure a qualification spot for the next round of the tournament.
The winner of this match will face the team that qualifies from the match between Canada and South Africa, which is anticipated on July 4 in Houston.
