Transport Minister Abdel-Samad Qiyuh has announced the search for a permanent solution to the issue of electronic visas between Morocco and Europe, which particularly threatens international transport drivers in terms of work disruptions and duration of stay in the European Union.
Qiyuh clarified after the government meeting on Thursday, April 30, that they are taking the matter seriously, and based on that, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has made contacts with the permanent representative of the European Union, as well as with the EU transport commissioner in Brussels.
The minister also mentioned that he is in contact with the Moroccan Association for International Transport, which represents the drivers, and stated that he wants to reassure the drivers that they are on the path to finding a permanent solution, with a view to strengthening Morocco’s international freight transport fleet.
However, the minister did not disclose the “solution” or the date of its announcement, while transport professionals have announced plans to strike and protest next May, starting from the Port of Tangier-Med.
