The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration announced that it has decided to allow prisoners one family visit and to receive a food package from their permitted visitors, as well as from diplomatic and consular representations for foreign prisoners. This will commence from the second day of Eid al-Adha and will last for a week, according to the schedule approved by the administrations of the prison institutions.
The Delegation mentioned in a statement that this decision comes “on the occasion of celebrating Eid al-Adha, taking into consideration the deep-rooted religious and social dimensions that this joyful occasion embodies in Moroccan society.”
On this occasion, the General Delegation called on the families of prisoners and their relatives to respect the organizational regulations and not to exploit this exceptional authorization to smuggle prohibited items.
It emphasized that any violations will be dealt with firmly, by taking legal action against any visitors proven to be involved in such violations, as well as disciplinary measures against the concerned prisoners, in order to ensure security and discipline within the prison institutions.
