The local authorities in the Fes region reported that, in a preliminary tally, 4 people lost their lives this Thursday morning, while 6 others sustained injuries of varying severity, due to the collapse of a residential building consisting of a basement and 4 upper floors, in the Al-Jarandi Ain Naqbi neighborhood of the Jnan al-Ward district.
Upon being informed of the incident, local and security authorities, along with civil protection teams, moved to the site to initiate search and rescue operations, where all necessary measures were taken, including securing the area around the incident and evacuating residents of nearby homes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the populace, in anticipation of any potential further collapses that could threaten their safety.
The injured were also transported to the Fes University Hospital Center to receive the necessary medical attention and treatment, while field interventions are ongoing to search for other individuals who are believed to still be trapped under the rubble.
The same source indicated that an investigation has been decided upon by the relevant authorities, under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, in order to determine the circumstances, details, and causes of this collapse.
