F1 and the FIA have confirmed a delay to the start of the Japanese Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
The Suzuka Circuit, which has been a long-time host of the Japan race, was due to start its latest event at 14:00 local time.<\/p>\n
However, a major crash in a support category damaged barriers at Turn 12.<\/p>\n
In an effort to ensure the safety of the upcoming grand prix, the decision to delay the start was made in order to carry out the necessary repairs.<\/p>\n
The formation lap will now begin at 14:10 local time – a 10-minute delay to the original plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cStart of formation lap will be delayed due to barrier repairs ongoing at Turn 12 after an incident in a support category,\u201d read a statement from the FIA.<\/p>\n
The barrier repairs in question are being carried out after a car rolled over the fencing at the corner.<\/p>\n
Kimi Antonelli will start the race from pole position, ahead of team-mate George Russell, with both title protagonists aiming for their second win of the season.<\/p>\n
