The management office of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced today, Thursday in Sal\u00e9, the renewal of confidence in Mohamed Wahbi to continue his duties as the national team coach.<\/p>\n
A statement from the federation, issued at the conclusion of a meeting of its management office, indicated that the national team’s participation in the World Cup finals was positive and honorable, and that the results achieved were a product of the support and care provided by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the football sector and national sports in general.<\/p>\n
The members of the management office praised the efforts made by the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, head of the national teams committee, in order to develop football and enhance its visibility at both the continental and international levels.<\/p>\n
They noted that reaching the national team’s quarter-final stage is an achievement that confirms the continuity of the development that national football is experiencing, affirming, at the same time, the importance of benefiting from the experience of participation in the recent World Cup.<\/p>\n
They recorded that the real challenge during the upcoming competitions lies in maintaining the level reached by the national team and continuously working to develop it.<\/p>\n
The speakers added that the results achieved were not coincidental but rather the fruit of continuous work that began before 2018, when the national team was ranked 84th in the FIFA world ranking, before rising to sixth place globally, in an achievement that reflects the significant development that national football has undergone in recent years.<\/p>\n
They also confirmed that the national team played during the 2026 World Cup finals against teams ranked among the top ten globally, which highlights the difficulty of the path faced by the national elite during the tournament.<\/p>\n
The members of the management office of the federation emphasized that the upcoming phase necessitates thinking about achieving a greater achievement, which consists of reaching advanced stages in the next World Cup, following the successes achieved by the national team in reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and then the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, while it is necessary to maintain the gains that have been achieved and enhance them with more work and development, ensuring the continuation of the national team’s competitiveness at the highest levels.<\/p>\n
For his part, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, affirmed that the noble royal message addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the participants in the national forum on sports in 2008 formed a clear roadmap for developing national sports, as it included a comprehensive vision and practical solutions to the various issues facing the sector.<\/p>\n
Mr. Lekjaa added that Morocco’s sports ambition evolves from one competition to another, noting that the results achieved by the national teams of various age groups reflect the validity of the adopted approach, citing the national under-20 team’s winning of the World Cup title, along with the outstanding performance of the national under-17 team in the World Cup finals, and the Olympic team’s winning of a bronze medal in the recent Paris Olympics, which confirms that national football has a solid base of talented players capable of ensuring continued brilliance across various categories.<\/p>\n
