The city of Tangier will host a press conference on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, to present the World Sailing Championship for the “Optimist” class 2026, which is scheduled to be organized at the Royal Yacht Club of Tangier from June 18 to 28, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI.<\/p>\n

This media meeting will be dedicated to presenting various details related to this international sports event, as well as outlining the organizational, logistical, and sports arrangements that have been prepared to welcome the participants and delegations coming from various parts of the world.<\/p>\n

The Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation had announced that Morocco was honored to organize the World Sailing Championship for the “Optimist” class in 2026, after the unanimous vote on its candidacy file during the general assembly held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in December 2024.<\/p>\n

The competitions of the championship will take place at the Royal Yacht Club of Tangier, with the participation of about 250 sailors under the age of 15 representing approximately 60 countries, in one of the most prominent global events dedicated to sailing for youth categories.<\/p>\n

Hosting this world championship in Tangier, according to a statement on the matter, is considered a culmination of the status that Morocco has achieved in organizing international sports events, and it reflects the confidence that national sports and marine infrastructure enjoys with the relevant international bodies.<\/p>\n

This competition is expected to attract wide media and sports attention, given its significance on the global sailing sports agenda, as it serves as a key opportunity to discover and hone young talents who are the future of this sport on the international level.<\/p>\n
