The primary criminal chamber in Tangier convicted a young man of “forging an official document and using it,” and issued a sentence of two years in prison, one of which is suspended.<\/p>\n
According to the file, the young man “M.A.” forged a marriage contract with the aim of using it in hotels, so that he could stay with his girlfriend, whom he married only with “the opening (fatihah).” <\/p>\n
Despite this risk, the young man spent his nights in hotels with the girl, without being asked for any marriage contract. However, after their first disagreement, his “girlfriend” took advantage of the situation and dragged him to court on charges of “forgery.” <\/p>\n
According to the young man, the contract he forged was with the knowledge of the girl and her father, who is simultaneously “his uncle,” and that they turned to forgery to stay in hotels after the authorities refused to marry them until a court decision was made, due to his marriage to another woman.<\/p>\n
The young man residing in Spain confirmed that he obtained approval from his first wife and came to Morocco to marry his cousin’s daughter. However, the requirement for a court decision to finalize the marriage led her family to propose conducting the wedding with the “fatihah” so that they wouldn\u2019t cancel the arrangements they had made and to protect their daughter’s reputation since invitations had already been sent to everyone.<\/p>\n
According to the young man, he, with the consent of the girl and her father, modified his marriage contract with “his first wife” and changed the first name to the second using only an iPhone. The goal was to present the contract to hotels if requested, but in the end, he was not asked for anything when he accompanied “his wife with the fatihah” on the wedding night and throughout the honeymoon.<\/p>\n
The young man indicated that after a period of marriage, a disagreement arose between them, and he decided to separate from the girl. As soon as he informed her of that, she filed a complaint against him for forgery, accusing him of deceiving her, claiming that she did not know that the “marriage contract was fake.”<\/p>\n
The court, based on the details of the case, issued a ruling sentencing the young man to two years in prison, with one year enforced, as well as ordering him to compensate the “fatihah wife” with an amount estimated at 7 million centimes.<\/p>\n
