The Court of Appeals in Tangier<\/a> issued a 25-year prison sentence for Mohamed Hamid Bejoo<\/strong>. This individual is believed to have led a gang that kidnapped wealthy individuals in France, particularly cryptocurrency traders.<\/p>\n

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, the court discussed this case, where the accused Bejoo was facing charges of \u201cforming a criminal gang and attempted murder using a firearm with premeditation and intent, kidnapping and illegal detention accompanied by physical torture of the kidnapped person, demanding ransom, and assault with a weapon resulting in permanent disability, as well as possession of a bladed weapon in circumstances that threaten public security and the safety of individuals and property, possession and consumption of drugs, and possession of a firearm without legal authorization and permission<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The court subsequently issued a ruling convicting the defendant for the acts attributed to him and sentencing him to twenty-five (25) years in prison, as well as ordering him to pay one million dirhams to each of his victims, Bruno Desnos and Kylian Desnos.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dangerous Wanted<\/h2>\n

The accused was arrested in Tangier in June 2025<\/a>, amidst celebrations in France, after the authorities there issued an international Red Notice for him.<\/p>\n

Bejoo, a Franco-Moroccan currently 25 years old, is accused of leading a gang that carried out theft and kidnapping operations targeting wealthy individuals, including David Paland, a co-founder of a cryptocurrency wallet company, and his partner in central France in January 2025, who had a finger cut off and a ransom of 10 million euros demanded.<\/p>\n

He is also accused of kidnapping another man involved in cryptocurrency in May 2025, who also had a finger cut off before being released, along with many other operations.<\/p>\n

In Tangier<\/h2>\n

In his apartment in Tangier, where he was hiding, a large number of bladed weapons were found, which were hidden in ventilation ducts.<\/p>\n

The deputy public prosecutor stated that the man appeared to be preparing for something or waiting to carry out an operation, confirming that he posed a significant threat and that there was evidence he was the mastermind of the gang, and that correspondence and messages had documented this.<\/p>\n

The Trial<\/h2>\n

During the trial, Bejoo denied all the charges against him, insisting that he left France to settle in Morocco, his country of origin, and that he had been working with his grandfather in olive farming, and that he was far from these allegations. He stated that at the time the crimes were attributed to him, he was in Morocco.<\/p>\n

The accused said that the French authorities fabricated these accusations against him based solely on the testimony of his cousin, who made false statements to implicate him due to family issues between them, and that none of the victims had accused him or recognized him until he was named as the main suspect by the authorities.<\/p>\n
