The American embassy in Rabat announced the signing of a new agreement between the United States and Morocco for the exchange of sensitive security information, aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of civil aviation security and contributing to the safety of transportation networks and the economy.<\/p>\n
The embassy said in a tweet on the platform \u201cX\u201d on Thursday, May 14, that through deepening coordination and exchanging vital security information, Morocco and the United States are working together to address emerging threats, protect critical infrastructure, and enhance a safer future for travelers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n
According to the Italian news agency \u201cNova,\u201d the agreement establishes a formal framework for the exchange of sensitive security information between the authorities of the two countries, including risk assessments related to airports, monitoring security vulnerabilities, inspection and surveillance procedures, in addition to exchanging data related to suspicious passengers or shipments.<\/p>\n
The agency added that such agreements are considered essential tools that the United States relies on with its strategic partners since the September 11 attacks, aimed at enhancing operational coordination between airports, customs authorities, and security agencies, in light of growing threats from transnational terrorism and explosives smuggling.<\/p>\n
The agreement also reflects the expansion of cooperation areas between Morocco and the United States beyond the traditional military framework, to include border security, intelligence, cybersecurity, and the protection of critical infrastructures.<\/p>\n
