Several houses in the “Tadamon” neighborhood of the Kharba area in Tangier have recently suffered cracks and damage to their walls, ceilings, and possibly foundations. This is reportedly due to extensive digging activities conducted by a construction company in the area.
In an interview with “Tangier 7,” affected residents stated that they had contacted local authorities to alert them to the dangers posed by ongoing construction for a private school amidst a number of homes. They emphasized that the scale and nature of the work are inappropriate for the location and could lead to a disaster.
The residents are urging the relevant official authorities to intervene, conduct inspections, and take necessary actions, treating the damage to their homes with seriousness. They are also calling for the enforcement of laws to prevent any potential violations.
The construction involves the establishment of a private school that will include an underground floor (basement), a ground floor, four upper floors, and a set-back floor. Residents expressed their astonishment at the granting of a permit for such a project just a few meters away from residential homes.
Additionally, the affected residents noted that construction activities continue until midnight, causing significant noise, ground vibrations, and substantial disturbance, without local authorities taking action to address these breaches.
