On Thursday, October 23, the government council approved draft decree No. 2.23.715, which amends decree No. 2.08.358 dated July 9, 2008, regarding the family allowances provided by the National Social Security Fund (CNSS). The proposal was presented by Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
Government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas stated after the council meeting that the aim of this draft decree is to fulfill the government’s commitment as outlined in the agreement signed on April 30, 2022, between the government and the major labor unions as part of the social dialogue. It concerns increasing family compensation for the fourth, fifth, and sixth children to 100 dirhams per month.
Baitas added that this amendment is intended to allow private sector employees to benefit from this change retroactively, starting from January 1, 2023, similar to the provisions in place for public sector employees.
The 2026 finance bill aims to raise the monthly amount for child allowances by between 50 and 100 dirhams for the first three children, along with implementing special allowances for orphaned and neglected children residing in social care institutions.
