Marrakech Authorities Arrest French National Wanted by Interpol

Marrakech security forces have arrested a French national of Arab descent, who is sought internationally based on a Red Notice issued by Interpol at France’s request.

The police in Marrakech, in coordination with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance, apprehended the 42-year-old suspect on Monday evening.

An security source indicated that a check of the suspect’s information against the International Criminal Police Organization’s database confirmed he is wanted internationally under a Red Notice issued by the National Central Bureau in Paris. This is related to his suspected involvement in a case concerning international drug trafficking and illicit substances.

Following the arrest, the foreign suspect was placed under police custody in accordance with the directives of the competent public prosecutor. The National Central Bureau, Interpol Rabat, under the Directorate General of National Security, has been tasked with notifying its French counterpart about the arrest in relation to extradition procedures.

According to the same source, the arrest is part of Morocco’s commitment to enhancing international security cooperation, particularly in pursuing and apprehending individuals wanted internationally for transnational crimes.
