French forward Ousmane Dembélé, who recently won the Ballon d’Or, topped the selections of 73 out of 100 jurors who participated in the voting for the best player of the past season, as reported by France Football.
Vincent Garcia, the magazine’s director, confirmed in a statement to L’Équipe that Dembélé won “by a comfortable margin,” reflected in the ranking details published by the magazine. The French international accumulated 1,380 points, significantly ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, who scored 1,059 points, followed by Portuguese player Vitinha, Dembélé’s teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, with 703 points.
Each juror, representing one of the top 100 countries in the FIFA ranking, selects ten players in descending order of merit, with points awarded as follows: 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.
Dembélé received the top ranking from 73 jurors, while Lamine Yamal had only 11 first-place votes. Both players appeared on all ballots, and Dembélé never fell out of the top five positions.
At Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions, Vitinha garnered six first-place votes, while Moroccan Achraf Hakimi received three votes, and Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia received one vote.
