Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch will lead the Moroccan delegation participating in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, taking place in New York, upon instructions from King Mohammed VI.
Akhannouch will be accompanied by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.
The 80th session of the UN General Assembly, themed “Together We Achieve Better Results: Eighty Years and Beyond for Peace, Development, and Human Rights,” will commence on Tuesday, September 23, featuring high-level discussions attended by heads of state and government, along with numerous senior officials.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations, and the General Assembly will focus on several current issues, particularly those concerning peace, sustainable development, and the climate crisis.
On the sidelines of this international event, two summits on climate and sustainable, inclusive, and resilient global economy are set to be organized at the initiative of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The high-level week’s agenda will also include meetings addressing the two-state solution in the Middle East, sustainable development goals, prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, promotion of mental health and well-being, and nuclear disarmament.
