Morocco Rises to 11th Place in FIFA World Rankings

The Moroccan national football team has advanced one position, now ranking 11th globally in the latest FIFA men’s football ranking released today, Thursday.

Morocco has a total of 1,706.27 points (+7.55), benefiting from Germany’s drop to 12th position (-3), marking the first time since October 2024 that Germany has exited the top 10, following its loss in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Morocco, which has regained a position it held in April 2023, is directly behind Croatia and Italy, which rose to 9th (+1) and 10th (+1) respectively.

The top of the ranking has seen a significant shift for the first time, with Spain (1st, +1) ending Argentina’s dominance, which has dropped to 3rd (-2) after holding the top spot since April 2023. This return to the summit marks Spain’s first time in the top position since 2014.

Other changes in the ranking include France advancing to 2nd (+1), surpassing Argentina, while Portugal has returned to the top five (5th, +1) due to Brazil’s decline to 6th (-1).

In the African context, Morocco continues to dominate the rankings, leading ahead of Senegal, which remains 18th globally. Egypt, traditionally ranked third in Africa, has dropped one place to 35th globally, followed by Algeria, which lost two points, placing 38th.

Additionally, Slovakia made the strongest move, rising ten positions to 42nd after two victories in the qualifiers, one of which was against Germany, thus re-entering the top 50.

Gambia (115th, +8), Madagascar (108th, +7), Paraguay (37th, +6), Uganda (82nd, +6), Libya (112th, +5), Suriname (131st, +5), and the Faroe Islands (136th, +5) have each advanced at least five positions.

Notably, Canada (26th, +2), one of the three hosts for the 2026 World Cup, and Kosovo (91st, +4), have not previously reached such high positions since the ranking’s inception in 1993.
