Mohamed Boulaich: Fear of impeachment

In response to fears of possible “dismissals” affecting some heads of elected councils, Mohammed Boulaich, president of the Agzaniya municipality, swiftly revoked the authority he granted to his first deputy, Ridwan Ghilan, concerning urban planning.

According to sources from the newspaper “Al-Akhbar,” the decision to withdraw the delegation was driven by concerns that the deputy could become implicated in violations that would lead to improper use of the delegation. This action occurs amidst ongoing controversies surrounding the urban planning sector and reciprocal accusations related to it.

The same source linked Boulaich’s decision to his apprehensions about facing a fate similar to that of former president Ahmed Idrissi or the president of the city district in Tangier, Mohammed Cherkaoui.

The municipality and its officials face allegations regarding urban planning and construction. A case involving “Jewish land” is currently pending in the courts, which has previously prompted investigations into several officials, including the president.

This ongoing investigation has raised significant controversy and concern, potentially jeopardizing the positions of elected officials just months ahead of upcoming elections.
