The Chinese Embassy in Morocco has urged students to exercise patience and understanding while waiting for their visa applications due to an increased demand. Applicants are advised to submit their requests well in advance.
According to the embassy, the number of Moroccan students studying in China has risen significantly in recent years, reaching approximately 7,000 in 2024, which accounts for nearly one-third of the total visa applications received.
Since late July, as the new academic year approaches, the embassy has reported a high influx of student visa applications. Currently, around 2,000 applications are pending preliminary online review.
The embassy has confirmed that it is utilizing all available human resources and extending working hours. However, the capacities of consular staff cannot sufficiently address the processing challenges in the short term.
In light of these circumstances, the embassy has requested that applicants remain considerate and understanding, while ensuring to expedite the processing of applications as much as possible. They emphasized the importance of applying for visas in advance and advised against submitting applications right before travel.
Warning
The embassy also cautioned students against applying for visas and entering China too early. Residence permit applications must be submitted within 30 days of entering Chinese territory. Arriving too early may jeopardize obtaining a residence permit. Additionally, since registration for major trade events, such as the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) and the China International Import Expo (CIIE), has not yet begun, those applying for business visas should postpone their applications. They should submit their documents at least one month before their planned travel date.
