On Wednesday, August 20, at noon, members of the mobile police unit in the security department of Kenitra apprehended a 17-year-old minor suspected of attempting to steal from a commercial establishment while threatening to use a fake explosive device.
According to initial investigation reports, the suspect attempted to commit theft by making false declarations that he possessed an explosive device. He attempted to flee but was intercepted by a police patrol near the crime scene.
Technical scanning operations at the scene, along with search efforts using trained police dogs, revealed that the suspect was making fake threats. He was found in possession of a plastic parcel containing a quantity of table salt wired to electrical connections, but it did not contain any explosives or detonation devices.
Further investigation showed that the suspect is underage and does not have a usual or permanent residence in the city of Kenitra.
The apprehended minor was placed under police supervision pending a judicial investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor to uncover the circumstances and background of these criminal acts.
