Morocco Triumphs Over Zambia 3-1

The Moroccan national team achieved a convincing victory over Zambia, winning 3-1, during the African Nations Championship for local clubs (CHAN 2024) on Thursday, August 14.

Morocco dominated the first half but had to wait until the closing moments to score their first goal against a defensively-minded Zambia. Mohamed Harimat found the net after a cross from Youssef Mehri, the Berkane forward, in the 45+2 minute.

In the second half, Zambia applied pressure and had a goal disallowed in the 65th minute. Two minutes later, Osama Lmlioui scored with a header, extending Morocco’s lead. Zambia, undeterred, narrowed the gap with a powerful header from Kabasu Chongo in the 70th minute. However, despite reducing the deficit, Zambia could not equalize, while Morocco added a third goal in stoppage time through Saber Bougrin in the 90+5 minute. With this third defeat, Zambia is eliminated from quarterfinal qualification, while Morocco continues its quest for advancement to the next round.
