A video documenting an alleged assault on a migrant in the sea near Ceuta by a Royal Navy patrol has surfaced. The victim has since released a new video recounting his experience.
On August 6, 2025, the victim shared a video detailing the assault which took place on August 1, 2025. He stated that he was attempting to migrate, as many Moroccans do, with some friends when he was intercepted by Spanish naval forces, which declined to assist him. They subsequently called in the Royal Navy, who intervened to return him to Moroccan territory.
The victim explained he refused to board the Royal Navy vessel, having been swimming for hours and feeling his dream of migration slipping away. His refusal angered one of the patrol members, who allegedly struck him and attempted to run him over with the boat.
He mentioned trying to keep clear of the boat’s motor but was injured in his foot, leading to 24 stitches and a permanent disability affecting his mobility.
Following the video’s circulation, the Royal Armed Forces announced an investigation into the incident. They stated, “In light of a video circulated on various media outlets and social media platforms showing a member of the Royal Navy engaging in inappropriate conduct towards an individual likely to be an irregular migrant near the occupied enclave of Ceuta, an investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances accurately.”
