Hot Developments: Hamouchi Approves New Security Appointments in Tangier and Other Moroccan Cities

On Wednesday, August 6, Abdel Latif Hemmouchi approved security appointments in various regions across Morocco, including Tangier. These appointments involved 24 officials taking on managerial roles for the administrative and operational management of both central and regional National Security services.

The new appointments elevated experienced security personnel to the top tier of decentralized police leadership. Among these appointments are the deputy to the security governor of Beni Mellal and the deputy head of regional security in Taza. Additionally, an acting head of the regional security area in Khouribga was appointed.

These appointments also saw female security officials placed in charge of both central and decentralized National Security services, including a head for the police information management system “GESTARR” under the Directorate of Public Security, as well as a head for the regional social work office in the regional security of El Jadida.

In coordination with major sporting events, notably the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2030 World Cup, the recent list of appointments included the assignment of specialized security personnel to lead sports security teams under the administrations of Fez and Tangier.

Furthermore, additional security personnel were entrusted with leading various other public safety, judicial police, general intelligence, and social work services in the cities of Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Guelmim, Fez, Tangier, Errachidia, Meknes, Bni Mohammed, Agadir, Salé, and Casablanca.
