Local Authorities Act on “Biçara Sidewalk” in Tangier
The term “Biçara Sidewalk” has drawn the attention of local authorities in Tangier, leading to a complete renovation of the Rocksy area sidewalks from scratch, more than two months after the completion of initial works.
Recently, the company in charge of the construction in downtown Tangier began removing the “yellow” sidewalks popular among residents. They are now working on installing new sidewalks.
According to available information, the company will bear the renovation costs due to the unsatisfactory results of the initial construction efforts.
Similar to the situation at the “Mikazain Wall,” criticism from local community members and social media comments have influenced local authorities, prompting them to demand improved construction work.
The sidewalk was dubbed “Biçara Sidewalk” because of its yellow color, which quickly became dirty, displeasing the overseeing authorities and accelerating the repair process, following the model of the Mikazain Wall and its surrounding streets.
