The Polisario Front announced the death of Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz, the son of the founder of the front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, and described him as the “martyr who fell in the field of honor.”
According to a statement issued by the front, Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz fell alongside two other fighters, without the statement specifying the circumstances of the operation or the identity of the other two deceased.
Who is Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz?
Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz was born in 1989 in the Tindouf camps in southwestern Algeria, and he holds a degree in international relations. He joined the Polisario Army in November 2011, and he progressed through political and military ranks until he became a member of the “General Army Staff” and a central director for training.
In 2024, he was appointed commander of the First Campaign Division in the armed forces, and he was also elected as a member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front during the proceedings of the sixteenth conference of the front.
