The Moroccan government has decided to provide a one-time exceptional grant for families that have lost their right to benefit from the assistance granted under the direct social support.
The government approved on Thursday amendments to the law regarding the direct social support system, aiming to address some issues revealed by the practical application of the direct social support system since its establishment in 2023, through the establishment of an exceptional grant awarded one-time to families that have lost their right to benefit from the aid provided under the aforementioned support system, as a result of one of the spouses or the head of the family declaring themselves under the social security system applicable in the private sector, with the duration to be specified by regulatory text.
The official spokesperson confirmed that this approach aims to encourage employment declaration and to motivate families to engage in the organized labor market, by providing transitional support that offers them the necessary security for integration into the formal sector, allowing them to smoothly transition to higher levels of economic and social development.
